Meet Julie, Depot Manager
"Being a Depot Manager in Merseyrail allows me to combine my passion for working with people with my skills in leadership and organisation. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to improve our operations. I take pride in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our services, and I find great satisfaction in supporting my team and contributing to the smooth running of the rail network. It’s a rewarding and dynamic role that I truly love."
Meet Neil, Driver Manager
"Having worked in the operations function at Merseyrail for over 20 years, I have had numerous opportunities for development and progression since starting as a Train Manager (then titled Train Guard), qualifying as a Train Driver, and now as a Driver Manager.
The Driver Manager role comprises primarily of train driver assessments, training, rules examinations, and an on-call role on behalf of our control centre. Combined with a proactive approach to staff engagement and a reactive approach to operational incidents, faults and failures, and investigations, the driver manager role ensures no two days are the same. Good knowledge of railway regulations, communication skills, and being safety focused are at the heart of all driver manager duties."
