The Procurement Department is central to the success of every part of the business, focused on sourcing the goods and services needed to keep everything running smoothly. We support Merseyrail by ensuring regulations and governance are followed, and interactions with suppliers are as productive as possible for business growth.
 
We support our internal and external stakeholders, enabling the purchase of whatever goods, services or works the business requires with a view to optimising efficiency, value and quality. 
 
Our team may be small, but it is made up of passionate professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds. 
Our mission is simple: Obtain value for money by driving competition, optimising specifications, 
minimising costs and seeking innovation.

“Working within the Procurement Department at Merseyrail allows you to meet and work with multiple stakeholders across the business, no two days are the same, and it provides you with opportunities to grow your skills.

I really enjoy working at Merseyrail as it’s the people we work with every day that creates a brilliant workplace environment. Having joined Merseyrail in July 2022 as the Senior Procurement Manager, I had no prior experience within the Railway Industry, however I brought a wealth of experience from other industries such as Public, Engineering, Aerospace and Manufacturing.

I find I’m still learning new things everyday within the Railway Industry, and to me, this has been the most supportive and interesting sector within my career.”
