The Safety Team are dedicated to ensuring essential safety regulations, industry standards, and company goals are met and adhered to - all while nurturing a strong safety culture.
 
Working in the team, you’ll drive initiatives that directly impact our performance, focusing on preventing operational incidents and enhancing the safety of both employees and passengers. The team also develop and lead exciting campaigns like safety roadshows and educational forums, which helps to improve employee hazard awareness 
across the organization.
 
You will also learn how to prepare statistical analysis, risk assessment, produce reports to demonstrate compliance and assurance, undertake and support the delivery of audits and inspections. You’ll meet new people, learn new skills, and, 
more importantly, ensure everyone goes home safe each and every day!

“As a member of the Safety Team at Merseyrail we work with all employees to ensure they are protected at work by undertaking risk assessments to identify hazards they may face. Collectively, we identify mitigations to ensure that the risk of harm is reduced.

We regularly undertake passenger observations to adapt to emerging risks, undertake roadshows to engage with passengers and educate them on travelling safely.

The highlight of my job is being involved with the Operations team, which is a safety critical environment and governed by specific railway rules, which I ensure we comply with. Through this compliance we are able to run a safe train service, all day, every day.”
