Ticketing and Retail
The Ticketing & Retail team at Merseyrail plays a key role in updating ticket prices, analysing revenue, and maintaining our retail systems, including ticket office machines, vending machines, station gates, and platform validators.
We're really excited about our newest venture - modernising ticketing with our new Tap & Go system, which automatically provides passengers with the best fare for their journey based on where they tap in and out.
Our team works closely with Stations, Revenue Protection, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Relations to ensure our customers get the best deal. If you're ready to help shape the future of ticketing, we’d love to hear from you.
Meet Jen, Head of Ticketing & Retail
“It’s a really exciting time to be in the Ticketing & Retail team at Merseyrail. We’re going through a huge period of transformation, delivering one of the first cEMV Tap & Go schemes in the country outside of London. Our day-to-day work is really varied and often involves working with technical suppliers and colleagues on improvements that can be made to systems and processes. Personally, I have worked at Merseyrail for over 10 years in a couple of teams, both of which had a very supportive and innovative culture. There have been opportunities for career progression and one of the most enjoyable parts of my job is that I am continually learning, it’s definitely not boring!”
Meet Dan, Future Ticketing Project Manager
“Being part of the Merseyrail Ticketing team offers a fantastic opportunity to work on impactful projects in the rail industry. The dynamic workload makes every day different, and the people you get to work with make it all enjoyable. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of tasks and projects and see them through from start to finish, and to grow and develop as part of the role.”
